Lacawac's Discovery Days offer one-day camp experiences for children ages 7-10 years old throughout the year during breaks from school. Each Discovery Days session features a unique nature theme that encourages hands-on exploration, creativity, and outdoor discovery. Campers might investigate wildlife, build shelters, create seasonal artwork, or follow trails to uncover the secrets of the forest. Even though the forest sleeps under the sun, the secrets of the night are still all around us! In this single-day Lacawac Sanctuary adventure, campers step into the world of nocturnal wildlife—during daylight hours. Through hands-on exploration, fun experiments, and sensory-based outdoor activities, campers learn how nighttime animals survive, hunt, hide, and communicate in the dark |
Wild WaterMonday, April 6, 2026
9:00am-3:00pm Registration opens 3/16/2026 Learn More
Campers learn how water moves, changes, and supports life as they splash into activities like building mini-watersheds, testing water flow, exploring the shoreline of Lake Lacawac, and hunting for aquatic critters. They’ll experiment with surface tension, watch how erosion works, and discover how raindrops become rivers. Through STEM challenges, campers construct their own “rainproof” shelters, race water down custom-made channels, and see what happens when gravity, soil, plants, and water all interact. |
