About the Girls in STEM Symposium
Lacawac Sanctuary Foundation’s Girls in STEM Symposium is a one day event designed to inspire and empower middle and high school girls (7th grade through 12th grade) to explore careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Through engaging conversations, panels, and workshops, the Symposium highlights the professional and life experiences of accomplished women in STEM fields, encouraging students to discover new interests, exchange ideas, and envision themselves as future STEM leaders.

What we’re planning for 2026:
- A stronger focus on hands-on activities so students spend more time doing and less time passively listening.
- A streamlined speaker schedule that creates more time for meaningful Q&A and interaction.
- More room and time to visit vendors and scientists — we plan to spread out displays and build in extra visiting periods so groups can explore comfortably and talk with presenters.
- An informational table area will be located closer to the pavilion area, where students can meet with STEM professionals during breaks, ask questions, and learn about career paths and educational opportunities.
- Programming designed to maximize student engagement and discovery — more opportunities for small-group interactions and instructor-led demos.
