High School Summer Internships

Do you love nature and the great outdoors?  Are you interested in pursuing a career in the environmental sciences or conservation?  Are you looking to get an experience of a lifetime?  Then look no further than to Lacawac Sanctuary and Field Station's Pocono Environmental Leadership Academy (PELA) for rising high school juniors and seniors.  Our high school internship program gives students hands-on experiences and research opportunities in the environmental sciences.  PELA is open to students interested in education, biology or science. Students should have a strong academic profile and be interested in working in an outdoor setting, work easily with others, and are enthusiastic and outgoing.

Lacawac's PELA internship includes three components: education, research and enrichment. Students will work alongside program staff to provide environmental education programs and summer camp activities and develop their own research project or legacy project. This program is a unique opportunity for students to gain job experiences and prepare for college.

High School Internships are supported through the Michael Jake Burkhardt Memorial Student Leadership Fund.
