Designed for families, students, and curious explorers of all ages, these themed backpacks make learning about nature fun, accessible, and engaging.

Each backpack is packed with tools, guides, and activities to help you uncover the secrets of the natural world during your visit.

Choose from one of four exciting themes:
🪶 Birding Backpack – Spot and identify our feathered friends with binoculars, bird field guides, and activity cards.
🌳 Forest Backpack – Become a woodland explorer! Learn about trees, leaves, and forest habitats with field tools and ID guides.
🐜 Insect Backpack – Take a closer look at the tiny creatures around you using bug viewers, magnifiers, and insect charts.
🐾 Tracks & Scat Backpack – Discover who’s been visiting Lacawac’s trails! Identify animal signs using molds, guides, and tracking activities.

These backpacks are free to borrow during your visit and are available at Lacawac’s Visitor Center. They’re perfect for families looking to add a little extra adventure to their hike or educators seeking hands-on resources for outdoor learning.

No experience is needed — just bring your curiosity! Each pack includes simple instructions and fun activities suitable for all ages and experience levels.
