🌲Partnering with Local Lodging to Protect the Northern Poconos

Imagine if every guest who stayed in a Pike or Wayne County lodging facility contributed to preserving the stunning natural landscapes that brought them here in the first place. With Lacawac’s NatureStay Initiative, that vision becomes a reality.
The NatureStay Initiative invites local hospitality businesses to play a direct role in protecting the forests, lakes, and wildlife of the Northern Poconos. It’s a unique opportunity to unite businesses and guests in a shared mission: conservation, sustainability, and stewardship of our region’s natural treasures.

🌿 How It Works

Participating hospitality partners can choose from two flexible options:

Option 1: Per-Reservation Guest Donation
  • A $2 donation is added to each reservation, automatically included unless the guest opts out.
  • Funds go directly to Lacawac Sanctuary’s efforts in land preservation, wildlife protection, trail maintenance, and environmental education.
  • It’s an easy, transparent way to give every guest the opportunity to make a positive impact.
  • Lacawac provides custom brochure holders for every room or cabin, filled with brochures and trail maps.
  • Each brochure features a note for guests:
“Your Stay can support Lacawac Sanctuary Foundation and its nonprofit mission dedicated to preserving our region’s natural beauty and environmental health.”

Option 2: One-Time Seasonal Donation
Prefer a simpler, seasonal approach? Hospitality businesses can opt to make a one-time, 100% tax-deductible donation at the beginning or end of the summer season. In return:
  • Lacawac provides custom brochure holders for every room or cabin, filled with brochures and trail maps.
  • Each brochure features a note for guests:
“A portion of your payment for this stay supports Lacawac Sanctuary Foundation and its nonprofit mission dedicated to preserving our region’s natural beauty and environmental health.”
  • We recommend basing the donation on number of rooms and average guest turnover, allowing the amount to fairly reflect each business’s size and guest traffic.
