Tackle Loaner Program

​Lacawac Sanctuary partners with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission to loan out fishing rods and tackle to individuals or groups who are interested in fishing but may not have equipment of their own, or want to try out to the hobby before purchasing equipment. When you loan from Lacawac, you will receive fishing poles, a tackle box with hooks, sinkers, bobbers, and basic artificial lures, all you need is live bait and a fishing license!

Specifics About the Program

  • Fishing can occur from April to October, Monday - Friday: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Borrowing tackle on the weekend is by appointment only.
  • This is a first-come, first-served opportunity, borrowing tackle is not guaranteed for the day(s) you request. 
  • Fishing is allowed in Heron Pond and Lake Wallenpaupack. NO FISHING IS PERMITTED IN LAKE LACAWAC. 
  • A $25 deposit is needed at time of pickup.
  • Once all gear has been returned in good condition, your $25 deposit will be returned. 
  • Please stop at the visitors center to pick up and return your tackle.

Lacawac Sanctuary does not permit fishing in Lake Lacawac.  Lake Lacawac is restricted for environmental research purposes. 
​NO FISHING, BOATING, SWIMMING IN LAKE LACAWAC.
