CLA is a weeklong residential camp for middle and high school students ages 13-17. Participants will be immersed in Conservation activities at the beautiful and historic Lacawac Sanctuary and Field Station. Students will experience hands-on science programs along-side local conservation professionals and resident university researchers.  Enjoy a day kayaking the upper Delaware River, visiting a fish hatchery, assisting with bird banding, collecting water samples on Lake Wallenpaupack, analyzing samples in the lab, fishing, leadership activities, campfires and more.

What Does Camp Cost?
Recognizing  that  families have  differing  abilities  to  pay, we  are  introducing  a voluntary  tiered pricing structure.  Rather  than  raise  prices  on  all  families,  tiered pricing  essentially  asks  families  with  greater financial  means to  consider  selecting  a  rate  the  more  closely  reflects  the  true cost  of camp.
  • Tier A-  Subsidized-  This tier is a rate that is supported through sponsors, donations and other fundraising efforts.
  •  Tier B-  Direct  Cost-  This tier more closely  reflects the direct costs of the specific expenses incurred during a camper’s week including food, housing, counselors, and program materials.
  •  Tier C-  True Cost-  For families who are financially able to pay  Tier  C pricing,  this  more  accurately  reflects the true cost  of camp including all aspects of  maintaining facilities in good condition, insurance, utilities, and other expenses  necessary in operating Lacawac throughout  the  year.

Covid 19 Safety Precautions
In order to ensure the safest possible environment for your child to enjoy their week at Conservation Leadership Academy we will adhere to the following guidelines as suggested by the CDC and ACA (American Camping Association):
  • Campers will be required to complete a screening prior to the start of camp.
  • During the week, the campers and counselors will form a cohort.  All interactions that occur outside of the cohort (i.e. program presenters or on the bus for field trips) will require masks to be worn.
  • The number of campers will be limited to 16 with 2 campers per bunk room in order to allow for 6 feet head space when sleeping.
  • Meals will be either served without sharing utensils or individually wrapped.
  • All hard surfaces will be disinfected frequently.
  • Hand washing and sanitizer will be done frequently, after using the bathroom, after sneezing or coughing, before and after activities.

Lacawac Hours:  Open to the public sunrise to sunset
