Summer Camp Counselor

​Job Summary:
Lacawac Sanctuary is looking for an energetic and creative individual to teach at our summer camps. This educator will work with the 5 to 12 year-old campers. This is a nature-based camp that is both educational and fun. The camp itself will run for 8 weeks from the end of June to the middle of August, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This position would be a full day from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Additional week of counselor training just prior to camp required.
 
Reports to: 
Assistant Director of School Programs

Job Type: Seasonal

Duties Include:
  • Provide nature-related programming for the children in your camp group and participate in daily camp activities with the campers.
  • Help create a summer camp that is educational and safe, ensuring a friendly and secure experience for all children attending Lacawac’s Nature Day Camp program.
  • Plan and implement lesson plans for the 5 to 12-year-old age groups.
  • Be on-site during camp hours, 8:30-3:30.
  • Oversee and participate in environmental education programs for children.
  • Supervise Counselors-In-Training (CIT’s) assigned to your group.
  • Lead interpretative hikes on our trails, arts and crafts activities, and cooperative games and sports.

Environmental Educator​

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for conducting environmental education programming for preK-12 students and the public.

Reports to: 
Assistant Director of School Programs

Job Type: Part-time seasonal
​
Duties Include: The following areas are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.  They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required.  This description is subject to modification as the needs and requirements of the position change.
  • Delivers nature-based and place-based educational programs, both onsite and offsite, to children and adults, including K-12 field trips and public programs based on the provided curriculum.
  • Provided scheduled naturalist educational programs/presentations.
  • Assist with implementing environmental education programming. 
  • Maintain clean and inviting presentation inside the Visitor Center, as well as the immediate areas outside the doors, and keeping information kiosk neat and current
  • Participate in occasional outreach events representing Lacawac
  • Leads interpretive trail hikes on Sanctuary properties
