Run Walk for the Osprey

Just like clockwork, ospreys (Pandion haliaetus), return every spring from over-wintering sites in the tropics to watery areas up north, including rivers, lakes, and Lacawac Sanctuary, to begin another busy breeding season raising a feathered family. Because of a long breeding cycle (they are big birds of course), ospreys are among the first birds to migrate north from the tropics to start nesting.

Help us welcome back the Lacawac Osprey with our spring 5K Run/Walk. Each year the osprey return to their nesting platform high above Heron Pond along the Big Lake Trail and across from Lacawac's Education Center.

Proceeds of the run/walk will benefit the upkeep and maintenance of Lacawac's Browning Beaver Meadow Sanctuary, a former sanctuary of the NEPA Audubon Society.
