Lacawac Sanctuary offers standards-aligned educational programs that inspire students to connect with the natural world and bring STEM concepts to life through nature-based learning. Our highly trained environmental educators deliver programming tailored to the developmental needs of children from diverse backgrounds and abilities, ensuring that every participant feels included and engaged.

Through immersive, hands-on, and inquiry-driven activities, students will explore key environmental concepts while navigating Lacawac’s 550-acre preserve. Guided by our educators, students will investigate and learn at interactive stations located in diverse natural settings such as our pond, glacial lake, meadow, and forest. These experiences foster curiosity and critical thinking, empowering students to develop a deeper understanding of environmental science and their role in protecting the natural world.

By integrating real-world applications of STEM with outdoor exploration, Lacawac's programs provide a transformative educational experience that enhances learning, builds confidence, and cultivates a lifelong appreciation for the environment.

PLEASE NOTE:

As an outdoor education facility, Lacawac closely monitors weather conditions. Student safety is our top priority.  Lacawac programs run rain or shine. However, in the event of unsafe weather conditions, staff will determine if a program can safely operate and notify schools of cancellations by 7:30 on the morning of the program. In the event that a program is canceled due to weather, we will work with schools to reschedule within the same calendar year.

All other cancellation/reschedule requests must be received in writing at least 3 weeks before the originally scheduled program date. Lacawac cannot provide refunds for canceled programs.
