It’s a great day to visit Lacawac!

There is always something new to do at Lacawac with featured programs every month for kids and adults. Over 12 miles of hiking trails wind through some of the most special habitats in Pennsylvania.

About Lacawac

Directions

From Interstate 81 (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton):
Take 81 North and follow signs for Interstate 84 East/380.  Stay on Interstate 84.  See below for further directions.

From Interstate 84:
Take the Lake Wallenpaupack/Greentown Exit (20) and follow Route 507 north for half a mile. Turn left onto Ledgedale Road. Follow to stop sign, then turn right (toward Hawley). Go one mile and turn right onto St Mary Church Road. Go 0.2 miles and turn right onto Lacawac Road. After about half a mile turn right at the Lacawac Sanctuary / Sanctuary Road sign onto a dirt road. Follow this to the main entrance marked by a stone gate.

From Hawley or Honesdale:
Take Route 6 to Route 590 west. Travel on 590 for 8.1 miles and turn left at Pranzo's Auto Service onto Everly Road. Go 3.2 miles, passing St Mary's Church. Turn left onto Lacawac Road, go 0.6 mile, left at the Lacawac Sanctuary / Sanctuary Road sign onto a dirt road. Follow this to the main entrance marked by a stone gate.

Lacawac Sanctuary Foundation is an independent nonprofit dedicated to scientific research, environmental education, and conservation, nestled along the shores of Lake Wallenpaupack in the Northern Poconos. Our mission is made possible through the support of grants and generous private donations, ensuring that future generations can explore, learn from, and protect the natural world.​
