Nature is Our Classroom

Lacawac Sanctuary fosters environmental literacy by delivering high-quality, nature-based STEM education that engages students in meaningful, hands-on learning experiences. Using the natural world as both a classroom and a foundation for discovery, our programs encourage students to explore and connect with their environment while meeting academic objectives.

Through inquiry-driven, interactive activities, students gain direct experience with nature, sparking curiosity and a deeper understanding of ecological concepts. Guided by Lacawac’s knowledgeable educators, participants are inspired to ask questions, think critically, and develop a personal connection to the natural world.

Our programs are designed to be flexible and accessible, taking place both on-site at Lacawac’s 550-acre preserve and off-site at schools, schoolyards, and other local nature areas. This approach ensures that students from diverse backgrounds and settings can benefit from the transformative power of outdoor environmental education.
